{"id":2131,"date":"2026-09-23T11:03:16","date_gmt":"2026-09-23T06:03:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sadaesach.com\/en\/?p=2131"},"modified":"2026-09-23T11:03:17","modified_gmt":"2026-09-23T06:03:17","slug":"administrative-measures-should-strengthen-democratic-institutions-not-weaken-them-pppw-leaders","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sadaesach.com\/en\/administrative-measures-should-strengthen-democratic-institutions-not-weaken-them-pppw-leaders\/","title":{"rendered":"Administrative Measures Should Strengthen Democratic Institutions, Not Weaken Them: PPPW Leaders"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>ISLAMABAD<strong>:<\/strong> The central leadership of the Pakistan Peoples Party Workers (PPPW), including party president Dr Safdar Ali Abbasi, former MNA Naheed Khan, Senior Vice Presidents Fayyaz Khan and Advocate Amjad Ali Baloch, General Secretary Kanwar Zahid, Information Secretary Rai Qaiser, Sajida Mir, Malik Mazhar, Naveed Sadiq, Ghulam Muhammad and other senior office-bearers, has expressed serious concern over the recent arrests and detentions of political opponents, including parliamentarians, workers, supporters and Imran Khan\u2019s sisters Aleema Khan, Noreen Khan and Dr Uzma Khan under the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) Ordinance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The PPPW leadership stressed that in a constitutional democracy, administrative powers affecting political workers and citizens should be exercised with restraint, transparency and respect for fundamental rights. It said the rights to peaceful expression, assembly and democratic dissent are integral to Pakistan\u2019s constitutional framework.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The PPPW leaders said political differences are a natural and essential part of a democratic society and should be resolved through dialogue, parliamentary engagement and due process rather than measures that could widen political divisions or create confrontation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The leadership said Pakistan is passing through a challenging period that requires political stability, institutional harmony and public trust. It called for efforts to preserve democratic space and ensure that citizens can carry out their daily lives without unnecessary disruption.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The PPPW leadership urged the government to demonstrate political tolerance and initiate meaningful dialogue with the opposition. It said dialogue and reconciliation are constructive means of resolving political differences, strengthening democratic institutions and creating an environment focused on economic development, good governance and public welfare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The leaders also expressed concern that political tensions leading to barricades, road closures and disruptions to transportation in major cities cause difficulties for ordinary citizens.
