ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for National Heritage and Culture Division, Aurangzeb Khan Khichi on Saturday called for collective efforts to preserve Pakistan\u2019s rich cultural legacy, saying safeguarding heritage was vital for national identity and future generations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In his message on World Heritage Day, the minister said the occasion served as a reminder of the global importance of protecting cultural heritage, as recognised by UNESCO.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said Pakistan was blessed with a diverse heritage reflecting its deep-rooted history, vibrant cultures, and resilient people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
From ancient civilisations to architectural landmarks and living traditions, he added, the country\u2019s heritage remained a source of pride and identity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Highlighting historical continuity, the minister noted that Pakistan\u2019s heritage spanned from the Paleolithic era through the Neolithic and Bronze Ages, including the remarkable Indus Valley Civilisation, Gandhara art, Islamic heritage, and Mughal-era monuments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said the country\u2019s World Heritage sites embodied the legacy of the Indus civilisation, the excellence of Gandhara\u2019s Buddhist art, and the grandeur of Indo-Islamic and Mughal architecture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The minister urged all stakeholders, including government institutions, provincial authorities, local communities, and youth, to work together for the protection and promotion of heritage assets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He emphasised that sustainable preservation not only fulfilled a national responsibility but also created opportunities for tourism, education, and socio-economic development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He reaffirmed that heritage departments across the country remained committed to the conservation, protection, and effective management of World Heritage sites through modern techniques and professional expertise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
